FAQ
What stands for : i of engine identification?
It means a new type of cylinder with modified transfer ports and modified timing.
What stands for: i B2 in the engine identification ?
iB2 means: new cylinder technology, Boxer engine , 2 Cylinders
What stands for : iB4 in the engine identification ?
iB4 means : new cylinder technology, Boxer engine, 4-Cylinder.
What stands for : i R2 in the engine identification ?
iR2 means : new cylinder technology, Inline engine, 2- Cylinder
What stands for : Xi in the engine identification ?
Xi means a further development of the i –cylinder version. This type of cylinder is equipped with 6 transfer ports and in some versions with Bypasses into the exhaust port.
What stands for : CS ?
CS is the abbreviation for : Competition Serie which means a tuned engine. Parts are selected and fine tuned. Transfer ports, exhaust port and compression are modified giving more torque and more power out put. The higher torque is shifted in the lower RPM – range, so that the engine will develop good torque and power in this range. This is useful for 3D and torque roll maneuvers.
What stands for TS?
TS is the abbreviation for Twin Spark. This means the engine is equipped with a 2-cylinder ignition ( 1-cylinder engine ) or 2x 2-cylinder ignitions ( 2-cylinder engine). The 2 spark plugs per cylinder let the engine run soft in idle and increase the torque which means more power.
How long is the Warranty Period ?
Warranty for engine and ignition : 3years , if 3W-original equipment is used.
Is it necessary to install a fuel filter between tank and carburettor?
We don’t recommend to install a fuel filter between carburettor and fuel tank. The carburettor itself is equipped with an inner filter. In most cases a felt fuel filter in used in the tank station. This helps to clean the fuel.
I would like to send my ignition / engine for repair. What to do?
Please get the service order printed out. Fill out the service order and send the engine and /or ignition to us including the service form to the following adress:

What is the percentage of oil mix to be used with the engines?
For 3W-engines it is recommended to use 2% ( 1:50) fully synthetic 2-stroke oil.
How to start correctly the engine ?
- Close choke
- Switch on ignition
- Set throttle slightly over idle
- Start engine until it starts and stopps.
- Open choke
- Start engine. When the engine/ carburettor is correctly tuned it will start after the 5th flip.
- Warm up the engine but never with full throttle!
- Start flying.
Does a voltage regulator has to be used for the ignition?
3W-IIS ignitions does not need a voltage regulator. This unit is already part of the electronic and adjusted the voltage to the required value. Lipo Batteries with 2 cells can be used without problems.
What capacity of battery has to be used for the ignition?
Electric power consumption of 3W-Ignitions :
- 1-Cylinder Ignition : 0,8A at 6000 RPM
- 2-Cylinder Ignition : 0,9A at 6000 RPM
